When you think of Rosemary essential oil, you may think of roasting a pork tenderloin or flavoring homemade potato soup. But it is oh so much more than that, my friends! What I’ll do today is walk you through the top ten best everyday uses for this common yet sometimes overlooked essential oil so you can take advantage of its incredible benefits.
#1: HAIR RE-GROWTH
Yes! Rosemary essential oil helps with hair re-growth, as consistent use stimulates hair follicles and helps hair grow stronger. Whether you are actively losing hair or you want to act preventatively, Rosemary essential oil can help keep your hair healthy. Add 1-2 drops into your hand with your shampoo, or add 10-15 drops per 8 oz. shampoo bottle and mix thoroughly.
#2: HEALTHY SCALP
I could have lumped this in with #1, but a healthy scalp means a lot to me, since I struggled with the waxy build-up (which acts like dandruff) for about 7 years before I discovered essential oils. It is SO frustrating doing everything you can for your scalp, only to have these itchy flakes that drive you crazy, get all over your clothes and can be so embarassing socially. Enter Rosemary. This oil soothes the scalp–you can try massaging this into your scalp up to 3x a week.*
Rosemary is fabulous for focus and studies have shown it is effective in improving cognitive function. You could try applying to your wrists just before writing your big thesis or diffuse in the kitchen when your kids get home from school. Its uplifting aroma tends to keep our energy up while simultaneously grounding us. Because Rosemary essential oil has purifying qualities, it can be used to remove bad-smelling odors from around your house, car, office–even your mouth! Yep–Rosemary can help fight bad breath. If you’re using it to get rid of a pet smell in your house, please keep in mind that pets are usually a lot more sensitive than we are to smell, so they may not like what you’re diffusing. Just make sure they have the option of going elsewhere while you’ve got the diffuser going!
